What We Do
At Voices of Courage Child Advocacy Center, our role and mission is to allow children to share their experience of abuse or neglect in a trauma-informed and child-friendly atmosphere. We operate under the Child First Doctrine, which states that the child and his/her well-being is always our first priority.
Voices of Courage provides services to all persons without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Please contact our Child & Family Advocate if you require any special accommodations or have any difficulty accessing our services.
Our staff and partners want to ensure that children who are disclosing abuse are not further victimized by the very intervention services that are designed to protect them. Our services include the forensic interview, child and family advocacy, child trauma therapy, prevention education and the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) approach.
Voices of Courage provides these services to 9 counties in Northwest Missouri including Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Clinton, DeKalb, Gentry, Holt, Nodaway and Worth counties. Our office is located in St. Joseph, MO.
We are accredited by the National Children’s Alliance with means that our CAC adheres to the highest standards of practice for child advocacy centers in the country. Voices of Courage is the only accredited child advocacy center in northwest Missouri.
We are also a member of Missouri Kids First, which is the Missouri Network of CAC’s. By actively participating with this organization, our staff stays current with what is happening in the field of child abuse and neglect and has access to the best training available in Missouri or elsewhere.
