Other general donations to Voices of Courage provide…
- A safe place for a child to tell their experience of abuse. The child will meet with one of our Forensic Interviewers who are trained to reduce that child’s trauma while gathering information needed for the investigators.
- Support – every family experiencing trauma needs someone to guide them through ‘what happens next’. Our Advocate provides that listening ear, help with referrals to needed services, and support throughout the process.
- Therapy for the child provided by our Mental Health Professionals. There is no cost to the family for this much needed service.
- Prevention Programming – children and adults should learn about abuse, know the signs and learn how to react and respond. We can help with that.
A donation of $150 provides an hour of therapy for a child. Every $200 donated provides one forensic interview, allowing a child to safely disclose their abuse. A donation of $250 provides a family with an advocate who can help guide them through the system and connect them to community services. Every donation of $200 allows us to provide a prevention education program to children, helping keep children in our communities safer.

Voices of Courage qualifies for the Champion for Children (CFC) Tax Credit by the Missouri Department of Revenue. Any contribution with a donation value of $100 or more is eligible for a tax credit of up to 50% of the amount of the qualifying donation.

Voices of Courage Child Advocacy Center recently announced that we received a generous grant through the Missouri Children’s Trust Fund. This grant is making it possible for the CAC to purchase and renovate a facility for our growing needs.
Through these funds and others received and pledged, we purchased 702 Jules Street in downtown St. Joseph, MO.
The total grant from CTF was $850,000. The total for the purchase of the building and the renovation is $1.4 million. To get to the finish line, we need to raise an additional $375,000.
