MANDATED REPORTER TRAINING

Adults who work with or care for children should know what abuse is and how to report it.

Who should take Mandated Reporter Training?

Anyone who works with children or has responsibility for the care and safety of children should have this type of training.  It explains the legal requirements of a Mandated Reporter, defines child abuse and neglect, outlines many of the indicators of child abuse and neglect, how to respond to suspicions and how to report effectively.

In less than 2 hours, your agency, school or church can train employees, arming them with this important information about child safety.  Contact Voices of Courage today to schedule this training for your staff or volunteers.

Did you know?

Is online training available?

Yes!  Not everyone can do an in-person training due to scheduling conflicts or other issues.  We recommend Missouri Kids First’s Online Mandated Reporter Training.  You can check it out and sign up here.  Or call them at 573-632-4600.

What to do if you know a child is in danger?

First, remain calm.  If a child has disclosed to you, let them talk and you listen.  Don’t ask leading questions.  Just say things like “What happened next?” or “Tell me more about that.”  However, only get as much information as you need to make a report.  The child should not have to disclose details of abuse multiple times.  The hotline number in Missouri is 1-800-392-3738.  Of course if the child is in immediate danger, contact 911 immediately.
