Child Therapy Services
Therapy can help children process their experience in a safe and supportive way
Children can participate in evidence based, trauma-informed therapy at Voices of Courage. Children can learn to develop healthy coping skills, gain self-confidence, and learn to understand and effectively express emotions. They can also learn to identify and draw on their own strengths to leave them better equipped to handle life’s challenges.
Children between the ages of 3 and 18 who have experienced trauma can be referred for therapy at the CAC. They do not have to have been through our forensic interview services to qualify for therapy.
Some of our specialized services include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), CFTSI (Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention) and Play Therapy. Our therapists are continually trained to learn additional modalities annually in an effort to help children heal in a way that works best for them.
When a child experiences a traumatic event, everyone in the family can feel the impact. Support for all of the children in the family is important to the healing process.
Voices of Courage’s therapy staff works hard to give children hope and healing by empowering them to learn to cope with scary thoughts and intense feelings, build their resilience and ensure that they are seen and heard.
